Catalyst Youth Group

Catalyst (noun): an agent that provokes or speeds significant change or action

All middle and high school youth are invited to join Nimmo’s Catalyst Youth Group! It is the mission of the Nimmo United Methodist Church Youth Group to create disciples who will be catalysts of God’s love, grace, and mercy in our world. We come together regularly on Sunday evenings to learn what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. We eat, learn, do mission work, and have lots of fun together.

Mission Trips and Retreats:

Each year, our youth go on a variety of mission trips and retreats. Keep an eye on this page for updates on upcoming trips!

Faith Exploration

Each Sunday, we join together in a time of Faith Exploration where we learn to infuse God’s powerful love into every element of our everyday teenage lives. We meet Sundays at 9:45am in the youth classroom. For more information, please contact either one of our teachers, Yvette Starke and Doug Starke.

Confirmation

Confirmation is a time for young people to solidify their personal commitment to Christ. Until this point, much has happened in a young person’s life to prepare them for this time of commitment. God, through the work of the Holy Spirit, has already been at work in their life through the love and care of parents, grandparents, pastors, Sunday school teachers and participation in workshop activities such as communion and baptism. Confirmation is a special time of exploration of faith for our young people, a time where they will accept the love of Christ and confirm their commitment to Him.

Confirmation at Nimmo United Methodist Church occurs in the late spring and will consist of confirmation classes with the youth director and pastor, mission work, working with and learning from an adult mentor, and a special dinner for parents, confirmands and mentors. At the culmination of the classes, the confirmands will stand up before the congregation of Nimmo United Methodist Church and take vows of membership into the church.

Confirmation is for youth who are in 8th grade or older. If you are interested in learning more about confirmation, please contact our Youth Director, Jessica Scott.
